I am loving Tyra Banks right now

Check this girl out.  She is wonderful

By all means, try all of the tricks she said.  They all work.
Well, of course they work.  You don't get to become Tyra Banks and not know a thing or three.

Holiday Inspired Look

My friend Kat requested I do a holiday inspired look, so I thought about what the holidays mean to me, and this is what I came up with

Lemongrass eyes, for the grass smell of my grandparents house, and Amber Blaze because it was always sunny and HOT. A bit of sweet creme highlighter, and natural lip balm.
(as well as all the support cosmetics, like the skin care system, foundation, powder and eye primer)

Hope you like it!

Loves for you all.

Honey Sweetness

So yeah,
I've been looking at the makeup in advertisements and magazines and they are all really soft, and really natural, so I tried to recreate the look on my friends.

Products Used:
Clear skin with the Miracle Set
Mary Kay liquid foundation
Mary Kay Mineral powder
Honey Spice Mineral Eyeshadow
Crystalline Mineral Eyeshadow
Blush (Christmas Special)
Natural Lip Balm

The results!

And then we attempted to recreate a look similar to a peacock feather...

We almost got it...

How girls are made up for billboards, adds and magazines

This is a dove add, and part of their campaign for real beauty.

This is one of the reasons I love youtube. You get to see real women putting their makeup on, and the real results they get in their real living rooms.
They aren't polished, perfect, glamorized, touched up. They are real.

Catch you all in the comments.

Satin Lips review/tutorial by 16ystiifyed

Hey, remember that girl who made a video for me as her first ever video.
Well, she made another video and it's fantastic.
She did a little review/tutorial on the satin lips set, and I must admit that the satin lips set is one of my favorite things ever.
She did a brilliant job too.  Very well done for a second ever video.

Hope you like it as much as I did.
Talk to you all later.

Kat's Miracle Set Review.

It seems to me every now and then that I put more of Kats videos up here than I do my own.
I unfortunately suffer from large amounts of convincing myself I am too busy to make a video.  This probably isn't really true.

Anyhow, Kat has made another wonderful video.
It's a review of the Miracle Set, the basic skin care set offered by Mary Kay,

She did a wonderful job making this video.
It's a brilliant review.

I will check in with you all soon.
Rosemary.

Where is Beth?

Me and Kat recently realized that Elizabeth, or MKBeth has disappeared off youtube and neither of us had any contact information beyond her youtube channel.
I know that she once followed my blog, I am wondering if she reads this if she could email me stardustandunicorns@gmail.com and tell us where she went.
Not that we want to go all stalkery on her, but we want to know that she is ok.

My friend Kats Twilight series.

I am loving this series by Kat sooo darn much.

I am totally a closet twilight fan.
(don't tell anybody though)
(and yes that is why I first tried the Bella scent)

I am going to update this as she uploads the videos, so check back to this post regularly to see the different looks

Also I am totally looking forward to Alice.  I loved Alice.

And for the next few series she had an eye pallet that wasn't Mary Kay.
The attraction being the brighter, bolder, less natural eye colors.

I LOVE THIS ALICE!

I got another entry!

I got another entry to my my compition!

I am soo excited about how many people have taken part in this.
This is one from another Mary Kay consultant in Canada, and it is actually her first ever video.

She did super well.
I am really pleased.
It's Awesome.

How to order Mary Kay

Mary Kay Cosmetics are sold on a direct sales basis.
That means you need an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay (such as myself) to place your order with her.

You can find a Independent Beauty Consultant near you by inquiring at the Mary Kay Website, or my calling or emailing me and I will find someone for you.

You can buy in person, by having a one on one facial, or beauty appointment or by hosting a party.
A one on one appointment will allow you to get really personalised service, or a party or skin care class is a fun way to earn bonus's that can get you the products you want for a reduced price or maybe even free and a wonderful way to share a pamper session with your friends.
See my what to expect at a skin care class blog by clicking here

The other way you can order your Mary Kay products is to become a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant yourself, and ordering your products at wholesale prices from Mary Kay.

What to expect from your skin care class.

I have been intending to do a video for a while, on what to expect from your skin care class, but unfortunately I have been unable to complete the video.
So, in the interim, a text based explanation on how your skin care class will go down.

The purpose of the skin care class is to teach and educate people about their skin and how and why to look after it.

There is some stuff that will happen before your skin care class even begins.
First of all, if you are the host, there is the chance for you to get pre-orders from workmates, friends and family who can't make it to the night.  I will provide you with a look book and a pre-orders form and these pre-orders will help maximize your hostess rewards of discounted or free products.
I can also provide you with advice on what to say when inviting people to your skin care class, because some people can find this a bit awquard, or even advice on who to invite.

A few days before the skin care class I would call gather your guest list and phone numbers from the guests, so be sure to tell them to expect my call.  I do this so I can ask them questions about their skin and what their concerns are and make sure that I bring all the right products.

People will arrive, get to sample the satin hands set try the satin hand set, then we will all settle in for the presentation.  The presentation will include discussion on the way skin grows, what it is made up of, and what you can do to help it maintain it's natural health.
Then everybody gets to sample the products they need based on the phone call we had a few days prior.
After that everybody can get matched up with their perfect match foundation and the formal part of the class is over.

The next part is the individual consultation.  This is where I talk to all of the guests individually by sitting aside and discussing orders and future bookings.
If anybody purchases skin care products then I will phone to see how it's going two days after ordering, and then in two weeks we will arrange to meet, to see if anything needs changing while she is still eligible for the money back or exchange guarantee.  This can also be a fantastic time to book for a color lesson, or to book a skin care class of her own.
If you are the hostess you can help by making a little coffee to give people something to do while I talk to the others.

And that's pretty much it.  Your skin care class in a nutshell.

For more information about the Miracle Set used in the skin care class click here

I will see to you guys in the comments.
And as always,
Don't forget to be Awesome.

Microdermabrasion and how it works

Hello Ladies.

I made a video explaining the theories behind why microdermabrasion works.

Don't forget this fantastic video done by MKBeth29 about how microdermabrasion feels.
LINK
(also don't forget there is a difference between American and Australian prices)

And I hope I am informative.

Eye Primer

This was just a super quick demonstration I did of the eye primer.
I put some primer on my hand and dusted some eye shadow on so it was half over the primed area and half over my bare hand.

My friend Kat made another video, inspired by my video and by MKBeth 29's video (which inspired mine) and I think hers is a lot better than mine.

Hers addresses the other issues, like priming the eye with foundation, or concealer to help the eye shadow stick.

Why Hello There

When was the last time I just talked about me?
I mean, that is what most other people do with their blogs.

So, yeah.
Things are good and busy.

I got two or three videos filmed that I hope to get uploaded soon. That's pretty exciting. They are just about skincare and the such and give me a chance to show off just how much I don't remember about Beauty Therapy.

Tomorrow I am actually up to leave for a careers conference with Mary Kay at six am. I am not looking to the six am but I am looking forward to the conference. And what's more I am being driven there and back by two ladies with years of experience at being successful with Mary Kay so there is such a fantastic opportunity for me right there. That's really exciting.

Tomorrow as well I should be receiving my Christmas pack so I can film a little preview of some of the Christmas products for you. I am really looking forward to that.

On Monday the 26th mum has loaned me the church hall where I will be having a Christmas Preview where everybody will get the chance to see and feel all the Christmas products for themselves. That's super exciting.  (details to come)

And on Saturday the 31st of October I will be attending graduation where I shall officially receive my Diploma in Beauty Therapy from CIT. So exciting I don't even have words for it.

See you all in the comments  (and hopefully the Christmas Preview)

Foundation and Concealing tips by Kat

Hello Ladies.

My friend Kat has done it again and made a wonderful and informative video.

I must admit using too much foundation is one of by biggest sins.
I feel like I really need a lot to cover the redness in my checks, but I don't. I look much better when I use just a small amount.

Makeup brush cleaning

Hello ladies.

I intended to have a little tutorial on cleaning makeup brushes up by now, but unfortunately my camera is having technical difficulties, and I don't want to take my housemates camera into the bathroom next to water, so I found a brush cleaning tutorial to show you instead.

The only thing I would add is baby shampoo is a great for cleaning your brushes with once a week (the warm soapy water step)
And the every day spray stuff you should be able to find all over the place, like price attack or target or I got mine from David Jones.

I'll see you guys in the comments.
And as always, Don't Forget To Be Awesome.

Why Hello There Neighbour

Recently I sent around a letter to my neighbors (see below) that included this blog address.

So welcome Neighbors. This is my blog and I hope you find it useful.

First of all let me point you to the entire six posts I have made so far.

The post beneath this one is a microdermabrason set review. It was done by a beautiful girl I found on youtube and her video is just so honest. You can tell she means the things she says.

Next is another girl I found on youtube. She does a segment she calls "A Mary Kay Minute" on her channel and it's just so fun to watch.

Beneath that is the September Letter I email to all my customers.

The next post is a brush set review done by a wonderful friend of mine from america.

The last two are videos I made, tutorials, directions on how to apply makeup to get different looks and styles.

I do intend to make more, and different kinds of videos over the upcomming Monday/Tuesday.

I intend to get done that Monday/Tuesday:
A video on how to wash your brushes to take care of them
A video with a detailed explanation of what microdermabrasion is and how it works
A video about the importance of cleansing/moisturizing
And a video overview of how a skin care class will happen and what you as a hostess can do to help it be a success

If anybody has anything they would like to see, or questions they want answered then email me. stardustandunicorns.gmail.com or phone me.

ORIGINAL LETTER

Hi.

My name is Rosemary and I recently moved into the neighbourhood. I just started selling cosmetics through Mary Kay and I need women to sample my product.

I set myself a goal of thirty new faces a month and I need your help to reach that goal. What I am offering is a chance for a skin care class, during which you will get a chance to trial the timewise set of three in one cleanser, day and night solutions and the moisturiser. After that I can match you up with your perfect match, foundation to suit your skin type and tone, and then we can talk about any specific skin care concerns you may have and I can let you have any colour samples you may want.
There is absoloutly no obligation, this is just the way Mary Kay gets their products known.

Now since it is just as easy for me to speak to four or five women as it is for me to speak to just one you can share your beauty appointment with three or four friends for a chance to earn hostess rewards. The company gives me the opportunity to share rewards with hostesses who open their home up to me and their friends for a chance to try some new products in a fun low pressure environment. In the month of October I can offer you the Mary Kay brush set valued at $75 if you share your appointment with three friends.

If you would prefer your first appointment to be alone, then by all means, try the products yourself first before recommending it to friends. A one on one appointment is heaps of fun.

If you would like to learn more about me or Mary Kay then I have started a blog at www.stardustandunicorns.blogspot.com where I have put up a couple of videos on ways to apply makeup and product reviews etc.
Also check out www.marykay.com.au for information about the company and it's products.
Or you can email me at stardustandunicorns@gmail.com or phone me on.

I really look forward to meeting new women and getting new opinions on my product.
I hope to see you soon.

Microdermabrasion Set

I just found a video from the sweetest woman talking about how she felt after trying the microdermabrasion set as part her timewise set.

I can't tell you about it. You'll have to watch it and then you will know why I think it's a special video.

The Australian prices are $181 for the Timewise Miracle Set and $66 for the Microdermabrasion.

Mary Kay Minute

Oh my gosh.
I just found the most adorable lady on the intertubes.
She is so funny and excited and just so neat.
I don't know how else to explain her.
Check her out.

And as always.
Don't Forget To Be Awesome.

My Sept Letter

Good Mary Kay Morning ladies.

(this is the third time I've tried sending this mail, I seem to keep running into technical difficulty. Lets hope third time really is a charm.)

For the month of September I did... the word I am looking for is... appalling. I did really very bad. My aim was to have 30 new faces and I had... about three.

I have many excuses for why I didn't have the time last month, but excuses don't get anybody anything so this month I am going to pull my socks up and really get my products known by as many people as possible.

Special thanks to those three. Kathrine, Lizzy and Judy.

Now, for the month ahead.

Next month I am very pleased to offer a free Mary Kay Brush Collection to anybody who has an appointment and shares it with at least three friends. A friend of mine has made a little video about the Mary Kay brush set and I've put it in a blog post http://stardustandunicorns.blogspot.com/2009/09/mary-kay-brush-set.html you can see here.

I have also stood true to my word on creating videos about ways to apply makeup to create different looks, you can see the makeup I would put on before heading out to work each day http://stardustandunicorns.blogspot.com/2009/09/my-basic-morning-makeup.html here, and a much more dramatic Betty Davis inspired look http://stardustandunicorns.blogspot.com/2009/09/betty-davis-eyes.html here.

Mary Kay also launched some new gift ideas for Christmas and I've attached a pdf brochure you all can look at, or simply head down to www.marykay.com.au . There is a lot there to get excited about and it all comes with such lovely packaging. I am very excited about these products and I know which ones I really want to get.

Send me back an email or give me a call if you have any questions.
I hope to hear from you guys soon.

Thank you all.

And as always,

Don't forget to be Awesome.

Betty Davis Eyes

First of all, that's not your speakers, or my mic, it's my voice and it does get better I swear.

This tutorial was inspired by the Betty Davis look in Kevyn Aucoin's book, Face Forward. Totally one of the best books on
makeup ever.

The look is designed to pronounce the l

Conceal the corners of the lips, and any area you need it (I did under the eyes)
Do your usual Foundation
Prime lips and eyes

wash a highlighter color under your eyebrow and over your lid.
Put a deep brown in your crease and a little under your eye.
Eyeliner under your eye

Mascara
Draw on lips with natural lip pencil, over pronouncing the pout and making the sides thinner
rich brownish lip color
Soft pink check color

Products Used:
Mary Kay concealer

Mary Kay foundation
Mary Kay Mineral foundation
Mary Kay Lip Primer
Mary Kay Eye Primer
Mary Kay Moonstone Mineral Eye Shadow

Mary Kay Steely Eye Liner

Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara
Mary Kay Natural Lip Liner
Mary Kay Toffee Creme Lipstick

Mary Kay Amber Suede Creme Lipstick (because the first shade wasn't quite what I wanted)
Mary Kay Pink Petals cheek color

All those itty bitty packets were sample packets.
If you want a sample of any of the eye/lipstick/cheek colors then simply email me.
I can't guarantee that I can get samples to everybody on the internet for free, so I might ask for a dollar or two to cover
the cost if you are outside Australia.
